Outstanding graduate makes impact in the field of Early Childhood

Chantal Worsdell

A recent graduate from the University of Chester and mum of two has made a lasting impact through both her high grades and her leadership at a parent-led pre-school.

Chantal Worsdell achieved some of the highest marks ever awarded on the MA Education (Early Childhood) programme at the University, placing her at the top of her cohort.

Chantal, 50, from Shrewsbury, drew on her MA research to help shape the preschool’s approach to parental partnerships, deepening understanding of the parent-led model of early childhood provision.

Chantal’s research also gained national attention, leading to an invitation to present at the prestigious TACTYC (Together And Committed To Young Children) 2024 conference, where she shared her insights into parent-led preschools. In recognition of her contributions to the field, Chantal was awarded the University of Chester’s Prize for Outstanding Dedication to Children’s Development in the Early Years in Memory of Kathryn (Kate) Wilkinson.

Group of young people sat round a table writing with drinks

Congratulations to the group of students crowned Young Enterprise (YE) Start-Up Awards UK finalists after impressing judges at the North West stage of the competition with their SlipStopper venture.

Two teams showcased the University’s emerging talent in entrepreneurship, after excelling at a Chester Business School event held to select who would represent the institution.

The teams were formed of students from the Business School who study the Entrepreneurial Thought in Action module as part of their programme, supported by students from across the Business School and wider University.

They developed an innovative aftersales shoe attachment aimed at reducing slips in the service and construction industries.

Give refillable cleaning products a go

Many natural cleaning products are refillable and/or multi-use. Not only are they generally better for human health and the environment, but they are also kinder to our surfaces and possessions too.  Although natural cleaning products might have an initial higher cost, they can be great investments – as it’s possible to save money with them in the long term.
