Careers & Employability Graduate Offer - LinkedIn Learning
Graphic titled “Life After Uni” outlining graduate support, including job opportunities, internships, skills bootcamps, and ongoing careers support.

Earlier this year, we began highlighting the various ways the Careers and Employability Team continues to support our graduates and alumni beyond their time at the University.

This month, we are focusing on our next key theme: LinkedIn Learning!

As a graduate, you can continue to use your university email address (chester.ac.uk) for up to 18 months after completing your studies. During this time, you can use your account to access LinkedIn Learning.

LinkedIn Learning can be very useful as a recent graduate because it provides you with on-demand courses to support your subject knowledge and develop wider career skills (e.g., coding, design, business, personal development).

Why use it?

  • Gain access to a wide range of valuable FREE courses which would usually require a payment to access.
  • Track progress, set goals, and add completed courses to your CV/LinkedIn profile.
  • Identify and develop skills gaps to support applications and interviews

To get started, visit the LinkedIn Learning page and sign in using your university email address. Enter your @chester.ac.uk email, select the University of Chester, and log in using your university credentials. Single sign-on is also supported.

If you are approaching the end of your 18-month email access period, you may wish to forward any important emails to a personal account. Once accounts are closed, it is not possible to retrieve information.

Chester student conquers stammer to earn Master’s

Graduate in academic dress speaking at a lectern inside a historic hall during a ceremony.

Alumnus Aaron Agbanu recently graduated from the University of Chester with a Master of Science in Haematology and was part of a specially selected group of students invited to deliver a speech on behalf of his graduating cohort.

In one of the standout moments from our March graduation ceremonies, Aaron’s speech marked an important milestone in his personal and academic journey. It followed years of hard work, during which he overcame a stammer while completing his Master’s degree and presenting his research.

We wish Aaron every success in the future as he looks to contribute to advances in the study of blood and blood disorders.

In this lecture, Professor Graeme Yorston draws on his 30 years’ experience in psychiatry and lifelong passion for history and the arts to explore the lives and mental health issues of writers, artists, musicians and icons of cinema and why it is important for their stories to told.

Sustainability tip of the month - Spring into Sustainable Travel
Three people walking along a tree-lined path beside a canal, with greenery and a swan visible in the water.
Warmer weather and longer days are perfect for cycling and walking. Give yourself a challenge with a car-free day once a week or encourage more “walk and talk” meetings at work. Make the most of the sunny days!
Wellbeing tip of the month – Relax
Card with the word “mindfulness” written in cursive, placed on a windowsill with a softly blurred outdoor background.

Consciously engaging in relaxation exercises can help to reduce stress, relieve tension and improve sleep. Breathing techniques are a simple and effective place to start, forming the basis of many relaxation practices.

Next time you have a quiet moment, try one or more of the following: Square or box breathing, the 4-7-8 breathing exercise or the Abdominal Breathing. For the greatest benefit, try practising at a time of day that works for you, in a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.
